After creating a project you can create one or more folders under this project.
A folder can contain one or more tasks. Note that the project itself is a folder and as such,
you can assign tasks directly to it.

To create a new folder, right-click on a project and select the "Add Sub Folder" menu item.

New Project Dialog Box

In the dialog shown, type the folder name and press "OK".

A folder can contain child folders. To add a child folder, right-click on a folder and select "Add Sub Folder..." menu item.
You can continue adding as much folders and child folders as you like until you have a folders structure you satisfy with.
For example, the following folder structure is used for managing the Informatica web site project:

You can see that the Informatica web site consist of several subjects like: Design, Version 1, Documents etc.
and some of this subjects have child subjects and even child-child subjects - there is no limit here,
do what serves you best.
Each subject is a folder, which can contain tasks.

Adding Task to Folder

Now that you have projects and subject folders, you are ready to insert tasks to these folders.
Any folder can have tasks – even the project (root) folder. Tasks are actual thing to do.
Usually, team leaders and QA persons insert tasks to the system and then assign them to developers to handle but its not rare to see developers inserting tasks for them and organizing their every day work.
InTask was designed to be as fast as Notepad, so even hard-core developers can take advantage of its highly usable task management interfaces.
To insert a new task to a certain folder, ensure the correct folder is selected and press CTRL+T.
A new task is opened under the selected folder, ready to get a description.
As usual with InTask, nothing is mandatory so you can open as many empty tasks as you like and even save them.
Of course, you would like a task to have a short description as a minimum so go ahead and click on the task description field and type whatever you like.
Don't forget to save after you finished inserting your new tasks.
By default, a task has a regular priority and its creator is the one, which opened it. A new task doesn't have any initial status.

Assign Task to Developer

By default, a task is assigned to its creator.
So unless you're the only person who's working on the project you would like to assign someone, usually a developer to handle the new task.
To do so, simply set the focus in the "Assign To" field and press Enter.
A list of all registered users will appear and you can select one of them to handle the task.

New Project Dialog Box

Tip: if you have many users in the list, start typing any part of the user name and InTask will find it for you. Use up and down arrows to refine your search.

Set Task Priority

In the drop-down list, select the most suit priority and then press Enter again.

Deleting Task

At any time, you can delete a task by right clicking on it and selecting the "Delete" menu item.
Just be sure that the right task is selected before you delete it.
Anyway, a confirmation dialog will appear to ensure you want to delete the task.
After a task is deleted, nothing can be done on its behalf.
Note that even if you confirmed that you want to delete a task, nothing is actually done until you save your changes so you can undo the task deletion by not saving your work and moving to another folder or quitting the system without saving. Note that a deleted task is not really deleted but just marked in the database as not active.

Change Task Development Status

So, you inserted a new task to the system and assigned it to a developer. Great, now the developer will get it (see filters section) and hopefully do a good job regarding this task. When a developer finishes his work, he can (or must) set a new development status for that task. To change the development task set the focus on the "Dev. Status" field and press Enter. Then select one of the development statuses available and press Enter again. In react to changing the development status, the system will automatically change the QA status to "Wait for check" and by doing so the task will appear in the QA person's tasks.

Change Task QA Status

QA persons will likely change the "QA Status" field after finishing checking it. If the QA status is changed to anything other than "Checked-OK" the Development status will change to "Wait for check".

This way of developers and QA persons getting tasks, working on them and than change their status causes the task to "move" between R&D and QA until both sides are satisfied. Only then, the task is considered closed.
